GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour, Pyongyang Open (Challenge)
Overall, it was a successful opening day, Wednesday 29th July, in the first phase of the Men旧 Singles event for the young Chinese players who had travelled across the border, to compete in the GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Tour Pyongyang Open.
Cao Wei, Chen Peng, Guo Wen and Zhang Fuzhou all remained unbeaten; however for Geng Zihao and for Ji Jiale, it was differing fortunes; both ended the day with one win and one defeat against their names.
Geng Zihao beat Wally Green of the United States (11-5, 11-4, 11-3, 11-3) but lost to the host nation旧 Kim Hyok Jun by the very narrowest of seven game margins (11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 6-11, 12-10, 12-10); whilst Ji Jiale accounted for Syria旧 Abdulkader Alkadi (11-6, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4) but on his next visit to the table, like Geng Zihao, was beaten by a player from DPR Korea.
He experienced defeat at the hands of Im Jong Hyok (8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 10-12, 12-10, 11-5).
Anticipated Tough Match
戦 knew it was going to be a very tough match, at first I was leading, then in the middle of the match I was losing;
at this time I thought the Supreme Leader was watching my match which gave me a lot of power�, said Kim Hyok Jun. 声lso the crowd was cheering for me, which game me strength and motivation; I was thankful I could win this tight match, it means a lot to me."
Similar Reaction
Pleased with his efforts and highly motivated; it was a similar reaction from Im Jong Hyok.
"I am very happy to win; this tournament is taking place under the warm care of the Supreme Leader, so I want to repay him for his love, by recording good results�, explained Im Jong Hyok. 浅owever, this feeling made me a bit anxious, so I didn急 show my full ability today, I knew I was far superior to my opponent; hopefully tomorrow I can show my full talents in front of this great crowd."
Earlier Defeat
Success for Im Jong Hyok against Ji Jiale but earlier in the day, he had suffered defeat against compatriot Ro Hyon Song (10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5, 13-11); conversely Ji Jiale had beaten Syria旧 Abdulkade Alkadi (11-2, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6).
